words of wonder are writing prompts designed to give you inspiration for writing.

you will receive a prompt to your inbox once every 3 days.

these will include inspirations for reflecting and processing, freeing your thoughts, and creating poetic pieces

to get your juices flowing, your mind working, your hands moving, and your thoughts-a-thinking.

Our brains are constantly listening to thoughts and words. Where do these thoughts come from? Who is saying them and who is listening to them?

When we provide an outlet for all these thoughts and words that pop into our head, we create space for new ones to come in. I believe it is very therapeutic and stimulating for us to write daily, letting our hand take to the paper (or in the ‘notes’ section of your phone if you are at the back of the bus without a notebook) (note to self: always carry a notebook and pen)

It is up to you if you write in a notebook or on some technological device. I love my notepads.. I love the feeling of my hand making art across the page, and flicking through my ramblings and imperfect handwriting at a later date and being able to draw along side my writing. but equally sometimes my hand can’t write as fast and there is so much information coming through that it’s rather nice to type on a keyboard. It’s up to you.

There is nothing you can do wrong with writing. No rules, no good or bad. The act of writing is the liberation in itself. Do not fear what any one else may think. You can decide whether or not to share your work. (although, I would highly recommend it, especially if it scares you a little)

The more we write down little things we have wondered about, or let our mind run free with imaginings and stories, then the more creativity comes knocking at our door.

These words just want to be set free!

So let’s give them what they want! (This is the words speaking, not actually me…)

The more time we give to our words, the more space we are creating for new energy. We no longer need to cling onto yesterday’s unsolved unsolveables. We can reignite to a new day and see what comes up for us today.

I find writing highly healing, and most mornings I like to write and just see what comes onto the page.

I hope that these prompts can inspire you to write on the days that you receive them and the days that you don’t. We are human beings, words are our poison and our medicine. But if we use them freely, then we can equally liberate our minds from those circling thoughts that can spiral down fast. and turn them into art. And now, the words coming through me have decided to break into a poem….

because all these words ask for
is that they are shared with the world
these thoughts come in to our head
to be set free, not to be held

we are open conduits for creativity and expression
just like us they want to be seen and are here to make an impression
the more we share our feelings and the words inside our head
the more we can let go of the isolating dread
the more we make space for the new
let go of yesterdays emotions
tell your brother, your neighbour how you feel
because these words are from another dimension
they are not really real

but when we keep them cooped up inside, they ricochet and pick up speed
we don't want the world to see them, but what we really need
is to speak more openly
give the bad and the good a voice
the words that come into our head we do not get to choose
but we do have a choice

we can decide
to hide them away or let them loose
we can free them onto the paper
that another needn't ever read
we can free them into the wind when are alone by the sea
we can free them into a song that we sing amongst our friends
we can free them into poetry where we can look at pain through a new lens
all of the words we can turn into art if we just give them a platform
all the words came for is a dance, they are their own art form

so let us free our words and free our minds
because stagnation turns things sour
little by little as we open our gates
we can come into our power

the power that is behind these words when they're given what they want
we are not the words, we just give them a voice
so with freedom of speech let us all rejoice

Here are a couple of examples of what to expect…
